Tuesday Throwdown challenge #206 - Something Other than a Card or Tag

If anyone would like to follow my blog you can either click on the 2 red squares next to the 'join' button and then click follow or, copy the link and paste it into your reading list.  For some reason my button has never worked :(

A very good morning to you all.  This week I have a gorgeous project to show you for Tuesday Throwdown challenge #206 - Something Other than a Card or Tag.  Head over to the blog for all of the rules and to see the wonderful makes from the lovely DT Ladies.

This weeks sponsor is Creations by AR.  Adela has some amazing templates in her store I really struggled to choose just one but I eventually chose the Dessert Cage which comes as either a PDF or an SVG file.  I don't have a cutting machine so it was a scissor and craft knife job for me lol

I LOVE working with templates and this one was an absolute dream to put together.....

I wanted a coffee and cream theme but didn't have any double sided card so I've used centura pearl and had to cut double  to the requirement and glue the pieces back to back to get dark on the outside and light on the inside.

The dessert cage can hold six mini cupcakes or tarts on the bottom......

With space for three on the top.....

An absolute dream to work with :)

I've used spellbinders scalloped circles covered in pearls as a base for the tarts.  I've prettied the rest of the cage up using dies from Sizzix, Marrianne Designs, Memory Box and Joy Crafts, a few flowers from my stash and added a bow.

I'd like to enter the following:

CSD New Release - Christmas in July

If anyone would like to follow my blog you can either click on the 2 red squares next to the 'join' button and then click follow or, copy the link and paste it into your reading list.  For some reason my button has never worked :(

Exciting news!!

The Christmas in July new release at Crafty Sentiments Designs is here with a brand new set of stamps being released on the 25th July.  Pop over to the inspiration blog to see the awesome projects from the talented Design Team.

For my project I had the super cute 'Hark the Angels Sing' stamp.  I coloured her using my spectrum noir markers and tried to give the effect of candle light.  It was my first attempt at this technique but I'm pleased with the result.

I thought she would look fab in a frame, so I made my own deep box frame out of white A3 card.  I've matted silver mirror board with a Christmas paper from BoBunny.   I cut the Angel out using an xcut circle die that I edged with silver ink

I've used Tattered Lace Lavish Poinsettia dies to decorate the frame that I've heat embossed with Christmas tinsel embossing powder

I've also used the Tattered Lace dies around the image to give a bit more depth.  I used a sheet of acetate over the picture and finished it off with a few pearls, a bow and of course a bell :)

I'd like to enter the following:

Good morning to you all.  Today challenge #204 'Take us on vacation' goes live over at Tuesday Throwdown with this weeks sponsor, The Stamping Boutique.  Head over to the challenge blog to get all of the rules etc

I chose to work with a darling digi stamp called KK the Skater who was a dream to colour up.

Now I know it's bright but It was a blazing hot day here in the UK (doesn't happen often) when I made this card so I couldn't use traditional colours, and this little lady looks fab and funky to me :)

I've made a side stepper to give the card some shape and used card from my stash to mat under a gorgeous pearly 12 x 12 paper called Christmas Confetti from Reminisce, which I've also used to decorate the inside of the card.

I've used dies from Sizzix and  Crafts Too and a few gems around the card along with an Xcut circle die to make a bauble.  I used my spectrum Noir pens to match the colour of the bow to her scarf.

DT Inspiration for SDD

If anyone would like to follow my blog you can either click on the 2 red squares next to the 'join' button and then click follow or, copy the link and paste it into your reading list.  For some reason my button has never worked :(

A very good morning to you all.  It's my turn to host the Inspiration blog over at Stamping Dragon Designs today.   It's my first time as host so please pop over and leave me an encouraging word or two :) our current July challenge is easel cards which you can enter here

This week I needed to make a much needed 'Man's card for my Step Dad who is 65 today.  He's not really into sports, he hasn't really got any hobbies as such apart from reading.  I've bought him a book by Stephen King called Mr Mercedes and wanted my card to cover the book in some way.  So I got to browsing the SDD store and came across the perfect image.......

I chose Rupert's Car and I wanted to make my card match the book cover as it's got a striking feature that you'll see further down.  I then picked out some papers called 'Good Friends Papers' as they were such a good colour match.

I had no template or pattern to work from, I literally created this out of 2 pieces of A3 card, my ruler and pencil and some glue!  It's just a basic box but a big box :) with a twist.  Read on to find out more........

The Front of the book card....

I've coloured Rupert and His car with my Spectrum Noir markers and matted it onto co-ordinating card stock, used a single printed sheet from the Good friends papers, added ribbon, gems and a tag die from Die'sire and I inked around the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink.

As you can see I have kept to the monthly theme of Easel Cards, and added a row of gems for the stand.  The gems were clear gems that I bought from the 99p shop (around 200 per sheet) and coloured them with my markers so that they matched the colours on the card perfectly.

This shows the box from the side.  I've made it into a book shaped box, by rounding off the one edge to look like the book binding and by using my markers in straight lines around the other three edges to look like the pages.

This image shows the inside of the box, when the 'Front Cover' is opened up, and the hard back copy of the Stephen King book sitting snuggly in place.  As you can see it has that beautiful blue amongst all of the greys that I had to use on the front of the box

I've used the inside of the cover to add my printed Birthday greeting but I haven't shown it here as that is personal :)

I've decorated the inside of the box with a co-ordinating paper from the set which has blue tones and compliments the rest of the colours I've used.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Artistic Inspirations challenge #99
Bearly Mine July challenge
Craft Challenge #267 Inspired by a Book

Good morning to you all.  Today I am showing a project made for Crafty Sentiments Designs

The new challenge is now live on the Crafty Sentiments Designs blog so head over for all of the rules and for your chance to win this amazing prize:

Now onto my Project.  For our anything goes challenge I've made a party gift box and cake slice box for a child's party.  I've used elements from Sweet Collection 2 cd.............

I've used some coordinating backing papers, ribbon and flowers on the cake slice box the template of which is also available on the cd.  I've used the same elements and added a pre coloured printable image on the box which was made using the sweet treats board.  The cake slice box was so easy to cut and assemble it literally took 5 minutes to put together

I've kept the design fairly simple on this project as I would need to make quite a few depending on the amount of party guests :) I added a bow and a large gem into the centre of each flower to compliment the colour of the image

Happy Friday and Happy 4th of July to my blogging friends who celebrate it.  I have some more exciting news to share with you today.  I have been accepted as a new DT member for Stamping Dragon Design, who are a really fab and friendly group of crafters.  Today is our new July challenge 'Easel Cards', and here is my offering:

I've used two beautiful ladies called Twenties Fashion and Vintage Lady 2 for my side stepper easel card.  As soon as I saw these ladies in the store I had my card made in my mind already I just needed the rest of me to catch up lol you know I love to play around with my card shapes :) and this one is made out of one continuous piece of card

I've coloured the Ladies with my Spectrum Noirs in a vintage style which is becoming one of my favourite colour palettes.  I've used papers from Joycrafts, which I also coloured and then matted to get the right tones to match my stunning Ladies.  I've also coloured white half pearl lace, and some clear gems to make sure they all blend well.

Head on over to the challenge blog to get the full details and all of the rules, I can't wait to see what you make.  It can be any shaped easel card but it must include a Stamping Dragon Designs image which can be found in the store.  You can also find some freebie images to use in our facebook group where you will meet a very friendly group of crafters, looking forward to seeing you there :)

We also have an inspiration blog where you will be able to some more fabby projects from the DT ladies, follow Debbie's monthly colouring along, follow the tutorials and lets not forget the CANDY that we give away!!  There's some up for grabs right now :)
